a 16-year-old boy on his way to celebrate christmas with his family dies on board the flight. the pilots tried to make an emergency landing as the teenager suffered an emergency landing. the unidentified teenager died of natural causes due to some kind of pre-existing condition. his father is in the military and stationed in washington state. an american war veteran held captive in north korea over a month waking up in his own bed. 85-year-old merill newman receiving a warm welcome in san francisco and greeted by his son and wife. north korea gave no reason why they let him go but newman said he's grateful to be home. >> it's been a great homecoming and i'm tired but ready to go with my family. thank you all for the support we

if you're flying, call ahead. the temperatures are frigid across the u.s. 40 degrees below average in a lot of areas. dallas, 26 degrees. the ice that is on the roadways is not going melt. it is very treacherous. people are urged to stay off the roads whmpt you factor in what it feels like on the roads, it feels like 19 in dallas, you get the picture. it is frigid across the u.s. it's not even technically winter on the calendar. we are worried about freezing rain and sleet and just a mess across the ohio river valley, the tennessee river valley up towards the mid-atlantic and the northeast. it's going to be impossible to travel in a lot of these areas. you can see the pink here on the radar. that's where we're seeing the icy mix across nashville up towards places, tennessee, kentucky, west virginia. north of that where it's below freezing, that's where we'll see the snow. there is that mixing line throughout the day today. it will creep towards the

mid-atlantic and then into the northeast. by sunday overnight we're looking at pittsburgh, dc, up towards new york an icy mix heading into the commute tomorrow. then as we go throughout the day it will finally exit. for the next 12 to 24 hours it will be very tricky on the roads and in the air and taking a look at the forecast precipitation, we could see several inches of snow and then that icy mix here south of that. that's where we'll see the heavy rain. it's going to be a trying time on the roadways. if you don't have to travel, please do not get on the roads in any of the areas where you're seeing that icy mix. >> well, thousands of californians are waking up finding out that their personal information isn't safe. they tried to sign up for obama care and the california insurance, cover california. you know at the end of the form it says, do you want us to have your marketing information so we can e-mail you and provide extra

information for you? even if you don't check that box, you don't want it, doesn't matter. that's exactly what the folks in california do. they did not check that box and their information was still given away without their consent. >> some of these people had just hopped online basically to check it out or they hopped online and found out that a plan that they already had or found one elsewhere was a better deal so they never filled out the rest of the application and their information was shared as well. now this information is e-mail addresses, phone numbers, home addresses, cover california is saying though that no personal information like social security numbers and personal income -- >> they're calling your house. >> some people aren't buying it either. how can you trust it? >> the people calling the homes are insurance companies who have been paid off in the very beginning to get behind obama care on the promise that they will have more customers and access to information exactly like this.

so the obama care website is doing what sleazy marketers do. pass on your information to other marketers like people who make the civil war chest set or whatever. right? it's like a lead list. >> it's for your own good. >> the "los angeles times" piece says they were shocked. they didn't even complete the application process and they were getting phone calls. take heart in peter levy. he says, i can imagine some people may be upset but i can see some people will be comforted and relieved to get help navigating the website. >> your average sleazy marketer knows he's a sleazy marketer operating over a space above a starbucks. these people are doing it because they feel they have a moral right to do it. you ought to be grateful they're

new york post that pales in the personal venom that developed between president obama and charlie rangel. been in the house of representatives 44 years. it turns out they hate each other. there's no way to put a finer point on this. they despise each other. a new book has the president calling charlie rangel, quote, a hack referring to his many ethical challenges. there's no doubts charlie rangel is a hack and been caught not paying his taxes. >> it breaks it down, the sort of back and forth. it seems to be that rangle is, as they describe it, old school. he's been there for 44 years, harlem congressman. he does it old school and he has seen president obama as an up start, a beginner. he famously backed hillary clinton. and then of course when he was elected, brought na office. charlie rangel thought he would have access to the white house

unfortunately. winter weather advisory for dozens of states stretching from the west up to the northeast as the storm continues to make its progression. looking at the radar, you can see the pink on your screen south of lexington. lexington, 26. in between you have that freezing layer. that's where we can see the potential for freezing rain and/or sleet moving up into west virginia, mid-atlantic region. as we head throughout the day, 1:00 p.m. moving in towards the dc area, freezing rain and/or sleet. north of that will be snow for tomorrow or overnight tonight, 9:00 p.m. pushing in towards pennsylvania and then new york and tomorrow around 5:00 a.m. new york you'll get into the icy mix. the temperature will rise. we'll see rain throughout the day on monday afternoon. there's tucker's forecast. d.c., 100% chance of yuck today. freezing rain and/or sleet and some snow and then monday same thing with the temperatures rising so that will real quickly turn into rain. it will be a mess all up and

cars. is it worth buying a new car or not? >> i was going to say absolutely go with news until i found the news item of a russian suv going zip lining. this is the biggest one. you'll save more money over a lifetime by buying used cars than any of the other stuff you could buy used. as soon as you drive it off the lot it's less than 10%. >> is it ever worth it? >> probably not. if you really love that new car smell and you want to spend your money on it, absolutely. you can buy certified preowned lightly used cars, plus there's a nice little news angle right now. in the depths of the downturn nobody bought cars. we went from 16 million down to 10 million cars sold in this country. used cars two years later were kind of expensive because there weren't that many. now we're selling 16 million cars again. there's more used cars on the market. the spread is bigger. getting a good deal. cars last a long time now. i know this financial advisor in colorado, alan roth, he did the

carson. thank you for joining us. does it surprise you that physicians in great numbers, at least in california, are refusing to participate in the aca? >> no, it doesn't surprise me at all. recognize that physicians are trained to make decisions based on evidence and so they're analyzing what's going on and saying, this is obviously not going to work for us. it's not going to work for anybody. you know, remember, our country, our constitution, there were five physicians involved in putting that together. so physicians in the early parts of our establishment were very involved and i think it's time for them to get involved again and bring logic back to this and not just ideology. it tends to lead us to bad places. >> incentives matter. doesn't the system now implemented pretty much guarantee that the best doctors will opt out and serve rich

people and the people at the lower end of the achievement scale, physicians, will be serving people on obama care? >> well, you know, there are probably a lot of different factors that are involved in who will go where, but, you know, the bottom line is if you're being reimbursed at a rate that doesn't even sustain you, that doesn't even pay your overhiead that doesn't make sense to be engaged. a lot of doctors are compassionate individuals are finding themselves to be doing things they never intended to do since they entered medicine. >> would you go into medicine again? you've been in it a long time. >> well, i probably would not at this moment do it. >> we're all gifted with certain talent and you need to follow

better in december than it was in october or november. i can't imagine that they're filled with great confidence about it, tuck er. on the other hand, all of these people in the senate were passed by a single vote. each one of those democrats up for re-election last year was a key, a single vote that decided whether or not obama care became a law or went down. they're kind of ono bomb ma care. at this point the strategy seems to be to talk about the successes. there are some, clearly. uninsured people are getting insured. people are getting extra benefits. you know, accentuate the positive and eliminate the negative. >> what about this? the administration is supposed to be the most transparent one ever yet somehow in the logs the president met one on one 277 times with cabinet members but never one on one with kathleen sebelius. is this a transparency issue or is this a management issue? if he really didn't meet with her one on one, what kind of

damage does that do? if he did meet with her one on one but didn't record it and hasn't been putting it out there, what kind of damage does that do? >> well, it's a good question. jay carney on friday was saying, look, that's the public log. it doesn't represent every meeting there was. you know, i suppose it really doesn't matter if the president was meeting with kathleen sebelius and one of her aids was in the room, that's not one on one but that's still a meeting. clearly, transparency is an issue. i think there was a better example of it this week when the administration announced that yes, in fact, the president has spent time with his uncle who's had some immigration problems. they said before that he had never met with them. it turned out that when he first went to harvard law school he stayed at his home for a couple of weeks. they said, well, why did you tell us before that he hadn't and now you tell us he has? the answer was, well, we didn't ask him before. it's an odd way to get information. >> you have been in that anchor seat for a decade, chris.

welcome back. they've been some of the president's strongest and most consistent supporters but a new gallup poll over the past year the president's approval rating among hispanic voters has dropped to 52%. that's down 23 points from the last presidential election. what happened and will the president be able to win back their support? joining us now is mr. ortega. my sense is a lot of this drop in the president's approval among hispanic voters has his inability to get until integration bill through the congress. do you think that's right? >> in large part. but also i think we have to look at the economy and considering that the economy has not been favorable to hispanics.
